Meeting Minutes from the October 28, 2010 General Membership Meeting
Lisa Harris-Eglin, President called the meeting to order. Jennifer Wilson, PTA member read “The Artist” (author unknown).
Motion #1 to accept the Sept. 16, 2010 minutes by Brian Rozmierski, second by Timothy Rozmierski. Motion passed.
Old Business
Evelyn Harris commented that Brian Rozmierski did an outstanding job on the audit committee. The PTA Executive Board thanked the Audit Committee (Brian Rozmierski, Evelyn Harris and Jeff Masline) for their work.
Motion #2 to accept the 2009-2010 Audit Report by Catherine Mattice, second by Fawn Montayne. Motion passed.
New Business
Lisa Harris-Eglin mentioned the resignation of 2nd Vice-President, Laurie Fay. Ms. Harris-Eglin thanked her for her many years of service to the PTA. She also asked those in attendance if they or other PTA members that they know would consider taking on the position of 2nd Vice-President.
Treasurer’s report: Kathy Kelley said the Mum Sale was a success this year. Lisa Harris-Eglin reminded everyone to turn in their receipts and fill out forms available from Kathy Kelley when making purchases for the PTA.
President’s report: Mrs. Antonietta Schroeder, Principal reported that Picture Day was a big success. She thanked Lisa Neuman and Tarasha Darden- Mckoy for volunteering that day. She thanked Mrs. Wheeler for her efforts to make Red Ribbon Week a success. Nov. 5, garden club members have invited seniors in the community to bake using produce from the garden. All are welcome.
Membership Committee report: Lisa Neuman reported the membership is at 113. We have exceeded our membership goal. Lisa N. thanked Mrs. Schroeder for her help with getting all of the teachers to become members.
Apparel Sale: Fawn Montayne set up an account with Café Press to create and maintain Menands School apparel for sale. She showed a Menands school logo which was designed by Jeanie Guity for approval by the PTA.
Motion #3 to approve the apparel sale logo by Melissa Mitchell, 2nd by Evelyn Harris. Vote taken with no opposition. Motion carried.
PTA Movie Night. Cindy Price reported that the movie on Fri., Nov.5 at 7:00 will be Casper.
Missoula and Spring Play update: Lisa Harris-Eglin reported that a family is still needed to host one of the Missoula directors during their tenure here. Also, parent volunteers are still needed to help out at various times during the rehearsal week of the Missoula play. Props are still needed for the Spring play with a goal of collecting all props by Jan. 1st.
Tools for Schools: Melissa Mitchell spoke about the successful effort last year to sign up many families for Tools for Schools. The school was able to purchase items with last year’s funds. Ms. Mitchell will send out a letter this year regarding Tools for Schools sign up.
School Banking: Juliet Van Kampen spoke about the school banking schedule (Friday a.m., before first period) and the need for more bankers.
Playground Committee update: Melissa Mitchell reported that a Steering Committee is in place for the new playground. Various grants are being looked into to offset the cost of building a new playground.
The next Playground Committee meeting is Nov. 16 at 6:00 in the Library. The Committee will meet every three weeks.
Homework Help Presentation: Lisa Neuman presented Homework Help! How Do I Help My Student With Homework? Mrs. Schroeder and Mrs. Andrews answered questions following the presentation.
Motion #4 adjournment by Jennifer Wilson, 2nd by Jeff Masline and Evelyn Harris. Motion accepted.
