the October 15, 2009 General Membership Meeting Minutes
Lisa Neuman -
Welcomed the membership and read “Superstitious” by Shel Silverstein.
Guest speaker – Briana DiBiase, Menands Youth Director, spoke
to the membership about the Menands Halloween party change of venue. Party will be held at the Farmers’
Market grounds instead of the Ganser Smith Park. Briana shared information about the planned festivities.
Guest speaker – Office Tim Savory, Menands Police
Department, spoke to the membership about Halloween safety. He offered several great tips on how to
keep children safe when trick or treating.
Lisa thanked our guest speakers.
Approval of minutes – membership asked to read the minutes
from the September 16, 2009 meeting.
MOTION #1 was made by Catherine Mattice, to accept
the 9/16/09 draft minutes as written.
Motion was seconded by Kathy Kelley; motion passed.
Treasurer’s Report – no comments
School Banking: Juliet VanKampen indicated that school
banking is ready to go and that she has enough volunteers right now.
Enjoy the City:
Kathy Kelley and Vicki Wrobel have volunteered to administer this
fundraiser.
BonTon – Lisa announced that the coupons can be sold right
at the store – if anyone would like to volunteer to stand outside BonTon and
sell them, see Lisa.
Project Linus – Melissa Mitchell announced program is to be
held Saturday, November 7 from 9-3.
Our efforts will support this program that sponsors making blankets for
children ages 2 to 18 who are in need (website: projectlinus.org). Melissa shared that she has several
donations of fleece, food, some $$.
Scholastic Book Fair - Mrs. Jankowski will run the book fair
a little differently this year.
The kids can make a wish list and there will be some afternoon hours so
parents can shop.
Healthy Family Fun Night, 11/13/09, is about community
involvement, activity for our students and good healthy foods – fun activities.
Next meeting is 11/19 at 6:30 p.m. – Tarasha McCoy is bringing someone from the Cooperative
Extension to talk about healthy Holiday cooking.
The Howard Family is housing the Missoula Theater people
this year. This is about an
$800.00 savings for the PTA.
Upcoming in December:
Winter Concert
Tools for Schools at Price Chopper – don’t forget to sign
up. It takes about one week or so
to get your account established.
Subway – Mr. Herrmann said that Subway will be having a
similar program for our School. We
are registered; information for families will be forthcoming.
MOTION #2 – made by Mr. Herrmann to adjourn the meeting;
seconded by Melissa Mitchell – motion passed.
